  • Hanson donates $10,000 in Greenpark's name to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, hosts dinner banquet for employees

Hanson Brick, North America's largest brick manufacturer, recently celebrated Canadian homebuilder Greenpark Homes' 40th anniversary with a $10,000 charitable donation to a local hospital in the housing giant's name and a banquet dinner for Greenpark's employees.

The two companies share a long-running relationship in which Hanson has supplied nearly all of the bricks Greenpark has used to build homes across the Greater Toronto Area since the company's inception in 1967.

"In brick manufacturing, durability is key, and I'm happy to say that the same sentiment stands true to Greenpark, which has stood the test of time and will be building homes for many years to come," said Frank Buck, vice president of regional sales for Hanson's North Region. "We are honored to recognize Greenpark's 40th anniversary and proud to share in this milestone with them."

Hanson Brick has supplied more than 500 million bricks to Greenpark during the past 40 years, and many of the brick colours manufactured at Hanson's Toronto-area plants were originally developed exclusively for Greenpark. In addition to the $10,000 donation to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, an organization with which Greenpark has a long-standing relationship, Hanson presented framed bricks from the first home Greenpark built in Etobicoke in 1967 and the 500 millionth brick used in a Greenpark home built in Woodbridge.

The dinner banquet, held Sept. 20, included a gathering of more than 120 people from Greenpark, Hanson and local government.

Guest speakers included Greg Sorbara, minister of finance and chair of management board of Cabinet MPP, Vaughan-King-Aurora, and City of Vaughan Mayor Linda Jackson.

Key Greenpark executives in attendance included: Carlo Baldessarra, Greenpark CEO; David Rechtsman, vice president of Armland Group, the land development arm of Greenpark; Ted Wine, executive vice president and Greenpark principal; Angelo Baldessarra, president of History Hill; Bruno Baldessarra, president of Treasure Hill Homes; and Carlo Baldessarra's three sons, who operate Greenpark's holding company, MAM: Armondo Baldessarra, director of contract at residential sales; Mauro Baldessarra, president of Starlane Homes and Michael Baldessarra, president of Trinistar Corporation.

Key executives from Hanson included Steve Luckett, vice president and general manager of the North region; Domenic Paolucci, vice president of operations and Frank Buck, vice president of regional sales.
