Hanson launches free online courses for architects, a convenient way to learn about brick masonry and earn credits

CHARLOTTE, NC, June 23, 2008

• Brick manufacturer teams with online learning industry leader RedVector to offer online programs

Hanson Brick, North America's largest brick manufacturer and a registered provider of continuing education programs for the American Institute of Architects, has announced the creation of free online courses for architects to earn continuing education credits.

From the convenience of their office or any Wi-Fi hotspot, architects can visit the architect's section of www.hansonbrick.com or go to www.hansonbrick.redvector.com and complete AIA education credits needed to meet licensure requirements. There are five one-hour interactive courses available, including: Movement Joints, Flashing, Manufacturing and Specification, Efflorescence and Moisture Control. A program in sustainable design in brick masonry will be added in July.

"We understand how busy architects are managing projects and meeting client needs," said Kathleen Jonila, director of marketing. "That's why we wanted to provide an easy-to-use resource that both fulfills their license requirements and permits them to expand their knowledge base."

Hanson teamed with the online continuing education course provider RedVector, a leader in online professional learning whose collaboration with Hanson marks its 1,000th online program. RedVector has an extensive library of course offerings for a wide range of professions and provides printable certificates of completed courses and lists license requirements for architects in all 50 states.

The interactive courses utilize text and graphics to teach participants about brick masonry. Each is punctuated by checkpoint quizzes and activities that reinforce terminology and concepts taught in the previous portion of the course. At the conclusion of each course, participants can view a further reading page complete with links to resources that delve further into the topic covered.

To get credit for the course, participants must take an online test. RedVector reports test scores electronically to the state licensure board and can provide printable course completion certificates.
